MORIESIAN

A Legacy Breeding Program

We are incredibly proud to be part of Moriesian history,
having produced the 1st registered Moriesian stallion,
Opus Black Mikasa.

Mikasa has been the cornerstone of our breeding program,

reflecting our passion and dedication to the Moriesian Breed.

Mikasa's legacy flourishes through our remarkable foals.

Our breeding program has been refocused to highlight Mikasa’s bloodline,

while also introducing exciting new colors alongside our classic black.

We invite you to be a part of Mikasa's Legacy."

This Legacy breeding program began in 1994 with our first registered Moriesian Stallion, Opus Black Mikasa.

Mikasa was a dream come true, a remarkable horse who left a lasting mark on the history of the Moriesian breed.

Mikasa sired the first second-generation Moriesian. In 2025 Twin Artesian Stables will once again make Moriesian history with the expectation of a third-generation Moriesian foal, out of Mikasa's Last Legacy (MissMik), the last daughter of Opus Black Mikasa.

Sired by the well-known NERO of Legend Woods, Opus Black Mikasa earned elite status based on his USDF performance. Mikasa's dam, Pecatonica Black Crystal, was a Morgan, sired by Brady's Black Label. Aside from Mikasa, Crystal produced only fillies with NERO. Mikasa, who was "Not Just Another Pretty Face", excelled in performance becoming the foundation of this Legacy Breeding.

Our stallions and mares have been featured in two breed books:

 "Horses of Distinction"

and

"The Official Horse Breeds Standards Guide"

by Fran Lynghaug.

The appealing presence of the Moriesian combines the strength and nobility of the Friesian with the refinement and grace of the Morgan.

Moriesian takes its name from the MORgan and the frIESIAN.  The blending of these two magnificent breeds produces a combination that cannot be matched.  The Moriesian, with it's refined compact body allows it to excel as a sport horse, being built for success in all disciplines.  The Moriesian is lighter boned than the Friesian, a quality sought after in a sport horse.  The balance and symmetry portrayed by this animal is truly art in motion.  The average size of 15 to 16 hands making them comfortable for most riders, a great blend between the two breeds.  The Moriesian has a proud, up headed stature, kind prominent eyes, expressive face, short back, and dense bone structure.  People admire their luxurious full thick mane and tail along with the added bonus of "feathers" (the long hair on his feet).

These young stallions show off their natural abilities to collect into a frame of roundness for classical dressage, and still have the frame needed to look breathtaking in harness.

A true utilitarian animal.

This breed is becoming known for its kind, intelligent disposition.

Moriesians are honest & willing to please.

Their easy-going temperament makes them great companions to riders of all ages.  Coming from two breeds that are known for their train-ability, mild manners and friendly dispositions.
